A Single Man by Tom Ford
'A Single Man' is a magnificent movie debut by the fashion desginer, Tom Ford. Moving performances by Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, breathtaking music, stylish images and it is all perfectly excecuted. Sometimes it reminded me of Pedro Almodóvar and Wong Kar-Wai films, and the film has the same sort of nimble flow and sorrowful beauty as the 'The Hours' but that just shows the good taste of the stylist Mr. Ford. When you leave the theatre you will for sure feel like smoking & drinking and listen to music!
A Single Man is a 2009 drama film based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. It was directed by fashion designer Tom Ford, who, as a first-time director, had to finance it himself. The film stars Colin Firth as the protagonist George Falconer, a gay British university professor living in Southern California in 1962. The film places emphasis on the clothes and architecture of the 1960s.
