Current social media websites are perfect for connecting and sharing with a network of people that you know. But what about people within your community, that you aren’t necessarily acquainted with yet?
Barbara Larcin sought to create a neighbourhood social media platform that can bring people together both online as well as offline, in the real world. Want a BBQ in a hurry? No problem, find a neighbour with one to lend. Need a reliable babysitter? There might be one living in your street. The SHAeRE platform helps people to help each other. After all, the more you share, the easier life gets.
With this project Barbara shows us that social media has endless potential, and perhaps we will leave the screen more often and actually meet some of our online friends offline.
