Francisco van Benthum pays tribute to Russian Activists at Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam
CON-STRUCT/FW14-15 collection is inspired by constructivism, an art movement from the period 1919-1934 that originated in Russia.
Several looks reflect on the current protest attitudes against and in Russia. Leather sweaters,
assembled T-shirts, bomber jackets and parkas in japanese nylon are daubed with politically engaged graffiti through IKWILGRAFFITI: Putin with Mickey Mouse ears and rebellious cries decorate the clothes.
A series of 3 T-shirts are designed for a good cause: The revenues are going to (‘Stop de repressie in Rusland. Kies voor vrijheid’) "Stop the repression in Russia.Choose for Freedom', campaign by Amnesty International.
A derived version of the T-shirts will be available in the Francisco van Benthum webstore coming April.
