Verena Michels debuted at Amsterdam Fashion Week

On the Sunday July 13 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam, Verena Michels presented a collection that is part of her multidisciplinary project "Trümmerfrau", literally translated as "debris rubble." Inspired by the aesthetics of residual materials Michels' collection is characterized by handmade woolen fabrics and loose pieces of collection material. This results in very fine garments designed with an industrial rawness and a delicate fringe of poor chic.

The collection encourages the audience to think about consumption and to imagine a proactive society with emancipated consumers.

Verena Michels lives and works in Berlin. Previously, she studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and AMFI Amsterdam Fashion Institute.
