Each season Armani gives emerging designers a big chance on the international stage. Belgian-based, Malaysian -born designer Edmond Ooi made his Armani/Teatro debut with an innovative twist on menswear.
Edmund Ooi tries to step away from the boundaries of classical menswear while keeping it wearable by using his background in tailoring and patternmaking.
For Fall/Winter 2015, Edmund's research initially centered on digitalizing historical costume elements from the late 18th and 19th century, which lead him to his instinctive love for geometrical cuts and extremely controlled tailoring.
Unsatisfied with his previous work he deconstructed and reconstructed his collection, composing a new aesthetic and geometric structures.
Edumund Ooi did the "Next Generation" stage justice, proving he is one to watch.
