Origin Passion and Beliefs
An international encounter orginized by Fiera di Vicenza and Not Just A Label.
Originally launched in May 2014, ORIGIN PASSION AND BELIEFS was conceived in collaboration with Fiera di Vicenza President Matteo Marzotto and Stefan Siegel, Founder of NOT JUST A LABEL. The intention: to create an innovative fashion event pairing global independent design talent with Italy’s most distinguished manufacturers.
From the 14th until the 18th of May I found myself (on behalf of FASHIONCLASH) in Vicenza, the historic centre of fashion design and textile manufacturing in Italy.
The second edition of Origin Passion and Beliefs brought together 100 emerging designers from all over the globe together with the experts of Italian manufacturing industry, international fashion institutions. The 4 day event included a variety of lectures and talks. Eventually the fair was closed with the Mittelmoda Fashion Award.
“Made in Italy is synonymous with quality and luxury. I am passionate about Italian manufacturing. I believe it is our responsibility to stimulate our economy while welcoming the next generation of fashion stars.” says Fiera di Vicenza President Matteo Marzotto.
“We have curated an unprecedented list from around the world. Designers from emerging markets such as Serbia, Ukraine, Brazil, Lebanon, Lithuania and Indonesia have been invited along with talent from the Italy, UK, USA, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia and many more. The designers were selected for their commercial viability, their commitment to handcraftsmanship, sustainability, and their point of differentiation. This is an amazing privilege and honor for the brands to meet with some of the industry’s most notable leaders. Our goal is to empower artisanship and individuality and to combat fast fashion,” says Stefan Siegel.

Scouting talents is one of my core activities and finding myself under the roof among 100 talented designers was a blast. The outstanding selection of designers featured familiar names but also many new names. The fair was divided in several segments: Leather, Stone, Textile and Technology. Furthermore OPB invited 20 institutions such as FASHIONCLASH, Fashion Forward Dubai, Belgrade Fashion Week Design Collective, Esmod Berlin, Worth Project, Doing Fashion and Maisons de Mode.
