Museum aan het Vrijthof launched a very special new exposition in collaboration with FASHIONCLASH: ‘FASHIONCLASH @ MUSEUM AAN HET VRIJTHOF'.

In the five years since its founding, FASHIONCLASH Maastricht has grown into an international and interdisciplinary event, where up-and-coming designers from different fields get the chance to present their work. To celebrate this, FASHIONCLASH was asked to showcase the highlights of the past few years in an exposition at Museum aan het Vrijthof.
One can see highlights of the FASHIONCLASH Fashion Procession 2011 and work of designer Femke Agema, designer  who has participated in all five edition of FASHIONCLASH Maastricht.

Museum aan het Vrijthof has also offered young designers a stage to present their designs and has challenged them to engage with 500 years Made in Maastricht. Five designers from the Meuse–Rhine Euregion were given the assignment to create new pieces inspired by the museum’s various rooms: Ann Boogaerts, Bregje Cox, Gabriel Guevara, Ingo Binder and Joelle Boers.

ATELIER MILADA by Ann Boogaerts at AFW

ATELIER MILADA by Ann Boogaerts presented "Brouillard bleu" fall 2013 collection. Beautiful, elegant and rich collection with handcrafted details and textures.
This FALL 2013 collection is based on the story of a young princess who wants to escape from her room at her parents' castle. The mother of the girl decided at birth that her favorite color, blue, should be very important in the life of her newborn daughter. Consequently, the chamber of the princes was completely blue, beyond a few gold ornaments: her sheets of Egyptian cotton were blue, her embroidered handkerchiefs were in a shade of blue, her hair bands were blue, her underwear was blue and even her hair was blue.
On the morning of her eighteenth birthday, while everyone was still asleep, the princess decides to escape and climbs out of her window. She runs into the garden in search of other colors ... She runs into the lawns covered with a thick layer of fog. Slowly her blue dresses and petticoats are changing color. They obtain depth, or become richer and the fabrics get color accents of the swirling petals. Her beautiful leather shoes are handmade by the renown Belgian company "Belgian Shoes".

Ann Boogaerts studied fashion design at ArtEZ fashion institute in Arnhem. With her graduation collection she has won the Lichting Award in 2009. In 2010 she obtained her postgraduate degree in fashion design at the Institut Français de la Mode IFM Paris. Ann Boogaerts is currently based in Genk in Belgium.

A Final Affair - by Atelier Milada and Kris Micallef

Atelier Milada by Ann Boogaerts in collaboration with Kris Micallef

Atelier Milada by Ann Boogaerts is debuting at Amsterdam Fashion Week on January 24th 2012. She is showing her fall 2013 collection 'Brouillard Blue'.
In September 2012 she showed at Runway Malta on behalf of F.A.B (Fashion Across Borders) and there she worked with Kris Micallef. Together they created this beautiful shoot in the streets of Valletta.
The collection is inspired by a lady in her late 60's. Lady with a fantastic character that could easily come out of a Tolstoy novel. The lady travelled all around the world by herself, and during the journeys, she collected small souvenirs from the places she visited and the interesting people she met in Russia, France and Japan. The souvenirs meant so much to her that she integrated them in her clothing. That is what we see in this collection and the backdrop of Valletta seems as a perfect place for this shoot.

Ann Boogaerts graduated from Artez Academy in 2009 and with her graduation collection she has won the prestigious G-Star Raw Award 'Lichting 2009'.
Stay tuned for her new collection this week, but for now enjoy this stunning story.
