Branding: Boy Bastiaens with Albert Kiefer and Kim Zwarts at Centre Céramique in Maastricht
17.12.2013 - 30.03.2014
Boy Bastiaens, is a Maastricht based graphic designer and art director who has build up an impressive career. For most people like me the name Boy Bastiaens does not ring the bell but this exhibition will bring change in that.
He comes from a family of traditional advertising painters who in far past decorated the walls and vehicles of old Maastricht with signs and lettering. From his small studio in Maastricht he gives contemporary interpretation to branding and advertising. He worked for Karl Lagerfeld, Philips, Pepe Jeans, Atelier LaDurance and Australian Homemade.
Bastiaens is engaged in branding: designing logos, packaging, lettering, illustrations, animations, spatial design and provides brands with a unique identity.

VerWeven by Nina Willems for FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013.
For the project "Verweven" Nina Willems asked people to tell her their stories behind the clothes they wear. This resulted in a documentary, performance and installation during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013.
Five designers (Anouk Haegens, Brit van Nerven, Inge de Vor, Sabine Staartjes and Jolijn Pasmans.) were challenged to create a new piece of clothing, each based on the stories of one person. The project premiered on the runway during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013, the five people that took part in the documentary presented their new outfits inspired by their own stories. During the FASHIOnclash Side Program, from the 2nd of June to the 9th of June, this project was presented at Centre Ceramique in Maastricht together with the newly designed pieces.
"Verweven" is a part of Theatrical Encounters project at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013. Jurrien van Rheenen assisted Nina in this project.

Vincent Sterenberg
One of the designers that took my attention is Vincent Sterenberg who graduated from ABK Maastricht last summer with the project Vitiligo. The products are made out of porcelain and leather and are reflecting on this skin disorder that Vincent is familiar with. With this project he translated his personal story into beautiful design and jewellery.
"Vitiligo is a visually striking skin disorder caused by depigmentation. This disposal creates questions, allowing me to create an interaction. This interaction is the key to my collection. From the interest in jewellery and products I created a collection that is different from estrangement."
