Dance through Others’ Eyes - Exhibition

'Parken'

Exhibition: Dance through Others’ Eyes/ Intro(dans)costumes

During the Dutch Dance Festival 2015 several exhibitions where scheduled that showcased dance through other eyes. I was invited to dive into Introdans archive and curate an exhibition 'Dans door andermans ogen'.
During the days of the festival the costumes I selected where exhibited in window displays at of several stores at Stokstraatkwartier Maastricht.

Dance and fashion are inseparable and numerous collaborations are taking between these worlds. The influence of costume on dance productions was clear in the first Distinguished Dreams project in 2014 when the Dutch Dance Festival worked with FASHIONCLASH.

Introdans archive includes an impressive list of national and international designers who designed for dance production. Costumes by Sjaak Hullekes, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hedi Slimane, Corné Gabriëls and where on Marie Louise Ekman where exhibited.

A Case Of You - Joni Mitchell / V Magazine

"You aren't going to call me a folksinger, are you?"
That's how legendary singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell starts an interview with V magazine (issue 93; out Thursday).

"You aren't going to say that I'm like the female Bob Dylan — or worse — a singer-songwriter, are you? I'm liable in interviews to get frustrated and become stupidly boastful. I just want things to be acknowledged. It's like, don't make me say it."

Joni Mitchell is having a moment — maybe because of the release of Love Has Many Faces: A Quartet, a Ballet, Waiting to Be Danced — a four-disc box set that includes 53 songs from the past 40 years of her career.

She's also the new face of Yves Saint Laurent, part of the fashion house's Music Project.

Out of Storage

Last weekend, Saturday 25th July, finally after few years of preparations Out of Storage opened in the Timmerfabriek.
I was there at the vip opening with a very nice and cosy lunch. Out of Storage is a big thing for a small town of Maastricht.

Collection FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais
On June 25th 2011, the international exhibition Out of Storage opened in the Timmerfabriek in Maastricht. Hundreds of artworks from the collection of FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais moved temporarily to Maastricht: works by Pawel Althamer, Superflex, Andy Warhol, Sol LeWitt, Vito Acconci, Christian Boltanski alongside Hedi Slimane, Atelier van Lieshout, Barbara Visser, Claire Fontaine and Liam Gillick. The Timmerfabriek is part of the historical site of the famous Sphinx ceramics factory and, covering over 5000 m2, it is one of the biggest industrial buildings in Maastricht. Out of Storage consists of a varied program of events, including exhibition, educational projects, research, workshops, debates, lectures and performances.
