Last Saturday I spontaneously took the train to Amsterdam to see 'The Raven / A Requiem', the latest play by my dear friend Daria Bukvić. It took me hours to get there by train with all the delays and I was almost too late. However the experience was breathtaking and worth it all.
I can go on with praise...but it is one of those performances you can't forget. ♥'s
It is a pitty that this was the last performance.
The Raven / A Requiem as directed by Daria Bukvić is a free interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic poem from 1845. A man is mourning a woman. A raven visits him… What can you do about a loneliness that can never be resolved? Poe’s dark masterpiece is revived in an intimate, visual performance. An ode to lost loves and lonesome lovers.
Daria Bukvić (Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1989) graduated in 2011 from the directing course at the Toneelacademie Maastricht. Dennis Kelly’s 'Puin' was her first Frascati Production, in the spring of 2012.

RAUM by Studio MENSINK/VANDERBROECK
Yesterday I got a last minute chance to see RAUM, the new performance from STUDIO/MENSINK/VANDERBROECK.
With this short performance they manage to capture you in their playful and imaginative world. As they will continue to develop the concept of this performance I can just look forward to see where it will go.
Studio Mensink/Vanderbroeck is a collaboration of two performance students Marius Mensink and Dennis Vanderbroeck. They are once to watch out for in the future.

Wherever we go by Øystein Johansen
Physical Theatre at Huis van Huis van Bourgondië.
Inspired by isolation and how humans relate to each other in solitude Øystein Johansen made his first but strong piece at Huis van Bourgondië with ‘Wherever we go’.
In 'Wherever we go' we meet three men hiding. They hide from the end of everything. In their fear of the end their doubts and believes come to the surface. Where isolation makes a bubble, a reality within the reality, while the world outside actually goes on.
Three promising performers Yannick Greweldinger, Igor Vrebac, Marius Mensink take you to a place where no one wants to go but yet we all can somehow relate to.
The evening was even more inspring with a nice encounter with the performer Igor Vrebac, with whom I share the passion to make work inspired by our Ex-Yugoslavia roots.
Øystein graduated from Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in 2010 with the honouring award Top Naeff for his artistic merits during his education. http://www.øysteinjohansen.no/

When the shit hits the fan

'When the shis hits the fan' by the Young Gangsters
Yesterday evening I decided spontaneously to go to Het Huis van Bourgondië.
The setting is quite cool and the performance is full of funny finds and tricks. Compliments for the actors for their hard work and credible performance. After seeing this performance, you can hardly believe it was created by two girls.
I will not say much about it, you should see it yourself.
'When the shis hits the fan' is also scheduled for Over het IJ Festival in Amsterdam and Cultura Nova in Heerlen.
Over het Ij festival: 7 - 17 July
Cultura Nova Heerlen: 26 August - 4 September
Deep down in Texas at the Mexican border. Sunny Side Up Trailer Park, where the scum of The States have gathered. And here sits Boy. Along with his brothers. As always, sitting in front of the trailer like a sack of potatoes. Belching, sweating, farting. Surrounded by beer cans, undefined electronics and posters of shiny Harleys. Nothing much happening. Then all hell breaks loose, sparking an argument. And a fierce and merciless battle follows.

Under the leadership of Annechien de Vocht en Lotte Bos the trailer trash storm the stage. Think Quentin Tarantino, think Trailer Park Boys. As in their previous performances (SCREAMING) Aaaarrghh! and Wanna Fight Again the Young Gangsters present a humorous, kitschy show fight with lots of spectacle and pleasure.
During their studies at the Toneelacademie Maastricht (Maastricht Theatre Academy) and Annechien de Vocht and Lotte Bos became fascinated by violence and stage fighting. They previously produced Young Gangsters "(screaming): Aaaarrghh!". Young Gangsters "Want to Fight Again 'is part two of the series. Their third play is 'When the shit hits the fan'.
