Orlando Opera - Vienna State Opera

On December 8, Orlando premiered at the Vienna State Opera. The opera is an encounter of female creative minds across time and countries: It is based on the novel by Virginia Woolf, composed by Olga Neuwirth, with a libretto by Ms. Neuwirth and Catherine Filloux, directed by Polly Graham, with costumes by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons.

Orlando is the first opera commissioned from a female composer by the Vienna Opera in its 150 years of existence, and the first time Ms. Kawakubo has designed for the stage.

Marc Jacobs says goodbye to Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs says 'adieu' to Louis Vuitton after 16 years with an all-black spring/summer 2014 collection.

He is leaving to concentrate on his own label in which LVMH has a substantial stake.

"... To all those lovely people that I've had the great good fortune of getting to understand and work with in this city. It's been so great. Every season it seems that we get to up it more and more. And this was just Everything. Every. Single. Thing. Lesage and Lemarié... all of them, full on."

Marc Jacobs dedicated the collection to the many women who've touched or influenced him during his decade and a half in Paris, including designer muses Coco Chanel, Rei Kawakubo, and Miuccia Prada.

Encounter with Petra Ptáčková

"Petra Ptáčková, a girl born in Prague with nickname tom cat working in advertising as a stunt woman and actress. I always wanted to tell something to the world and as I am better in explanation through sketches than words my final choice was fashion. Its pleasing to feel that you can influence somebody’s life through clothes. I believe that one well chosen jacket can say more than any word. Just let your inner voice speak"

You see her collection at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013! Read this interview with her and get to know more about her world.

What inspires you in general?
I try to get most out of the life that I wish to live. I feel secure in my own fairytale world. This motivates me to pursue new dreams. I always want to move forward. Beside that, all the dear people in my world, no matter if It is my family or not.

SuperBodies Triennial at Fashion Museum Hasselt

Lemm&Barkey
SuperBodies, the 3rd Hasselt triennial explores the fascination of many artists and designers for the way in which our body secretly moulds and shapes our experiences.
This exhibition does not just re-present the body. It presents the body in all of its often half-conscious operations. A large, interactive ensemble of works from visual artists, choreographers and (fashion-) designers makes us see and feel the body as the source of our thoughts and emotions. Upcoming and internationally established artists and designers operate on the boundaries between disciplines to unravel the mysteries of the body.
The whole of the city of Hasselt will qualify as a stage, but the main focus will be on larger venues such as the Cultural Center, Z33, Fashion Museum Hasselt, CIAP and the city Museum Het Stadsmus. Not to be missed!

Here is the picture report from SuperBodies exhibition in MMH (Fashion Museum Hasselt) with some fashion classics such as Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe and Angelo Figus. There is also work of some of favorite artists like Kiki Smith and Louise Bourgeois.
The exploration of the body continues with installations from Lemm&Barkey and Christophe Coppens and work from Anna-Nicola Ziesche, Naomi Filmer,  Ilke Theeuwes, Ginna Lee and very nice work from Linda Molenaar.
