VerWeven by Nina Willems for FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013.

For the project "Verweven" Nina Willems asked people to tell her their stories behind the clothes they wear. This resulted in a documentary, performance and installation during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013.
Five designers (Anouk Haegens, Brit van Nerven, Inge de Vor, Sabine Staartjes and Jolijn Pasmans.) were challenged to create a new piece of clothing, each based on the stories of one person. The project premiered on the runway during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013, the five people that took part in the documentary presented their new outfits inspired by their own stories. During the FASHIOnclash Side Program, from the 2nd of June to the 9th of June, this project was presented at Centre Ceramique in Maastricht together with the newly designed pieces.
"Verweven" is a part of Theatrical Encounters project at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013. Jurrien van Rheenen assisted Nina in this project.

Theatrical Encounters at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013

We walk forwards, stop, turn around and walk back again without falling

Theatre maker Sophie Mantel presented a performance on a catwalk based on analysis of various ways models walk and move on the catwalk, especially the topic of models falling on the catwalk. The presentation turned out to be a very successful short piece and one of the surprises during FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013.
She developed the performance in cooperation with Jan van Opstal, fashion designer Lena Berens and performers from Theatre Academy Maastricht.

NOTHINGSOMETHINGALOT Performance

NOTHINGSOMETHINGALOT
a catwalk performance by Dennis Vanderbroeck and Sarah Tulp, presented at the opening of  FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013

Sarah Tulp uses a clean and childlike esthetic to build installations and performances. In her work she aims to show the construction of the piece. Using the personal side of things she reaches for the universal side of things. She’s Always looking for collaborations between different art forms and artists. http://www.sarahtulp.blogspot.com Dennis vanderbroeck creates installations in which he makes cross-overs between fashion, fine art and performance art, using video, photography and live performances. In his work he searches for the clash between an internal and an external universe. His images are hyper esthecial, humorous and with his childish way of approaching it he creates a universe in which everything can happen. http://www.dennisvanderbroeck.blogspot.com
Sharing the love for fashion, mint green, sneakers, only wearing black, a workspace and a house they now decide to make a fashionable mint green and only wearing black house – on sneakers.
“nothingsomethingalot” by approaching fashion as visual art they create a performance in which visual art becomes fashion. A performance about How Anonymous characters receive a sculptured personality. by not using the catwalk in it’s traditional form they search for the clash between fashion and theatre.

'So wie es ist bleibt es nicht' by Annemarije van Harten & Judith de Joode

What happens when you create a clash of dsiciplines? We brought together Annemarije van Harten and Judith de Joode for the project Theatrical Encounter between?
Annemarije van Harten is a fashion designer and Juduth de Joode is a performer / theatre artist.
They created an animation and presented it in a cute little flipper book in the FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2012  exhibition.

Since a long time Judith has the desire to become a 'thing', something that just is. A plant that is standing next to the portrait on the chimney, a coat on the hallstand. Annemarije likes to make people disappear in her designs. She made a chair for Judith to stay in. Or disappear into. Where is Judith?
Best, Annemarije.

'Exposed' opening of FASHIONCLASH 2012 exhibition

For the interdisciplinary project Theatrical Encounters FASHIONCLASH invited performers Nina Willems, Dennis Vanderbroeck and Sarah Tulp to create a performance based on the exhibition (and the exhibited work).
For the first time the exhibition at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht has been officially opened. For me personally this was one of the most touching moments.
This was so magical!
