Eliran Nargassi - Spring Summer 2017

Saturday Night

The collection for SS17 is the third collection that revolves around religion and secularism. The SS17 collection was inspired by the moment that separated between the holiness of the Sabbath and the weekdays, according to the Jewish religion. While designing the collection I tried to illustrate the transition to the weekdays and the return to the work routine through the textile I chose for the collection which is mostly Denim and more subtle variations in forms of Cotton, Linen and other natural materials that characterize Denim. In order to emphasize the holiness of the Sabbath I used a tailored, festive and clean language, one that characterizes the Sabbath.

(Make) Believe Exhibition at MoBA 13

Hans Demoed & Geert de Rooij – known also as the designers of People of the Labyrinths – have taken religion as a focal point to investigate our near-spiritual relationship with clothing and brands.
They took over The Eusebius Cathedral in Arnhem and expressed the topic by a multi-media installation, both celebrating and questioning the worshiping of fashion. This was perhaps one of the most interesting exhibitions at MoBA 13.

Encounter with Alec Ali Abdulrahim

Mai-Gidah by Alec Ali Abdulrahim
The graduation season 2012 is already behind us and it is not possible to see all shows. To be honest I was not really familiar with Academy of Fine Arts of Sint-Niklaas but not so long ago I discovered designer Tom Van der Borght who just graduated there. Through Tom I bumped into Alec Ali Abdulrahim's work and I wanted to know more about this pretty collection.
He graduated with a strong menswear collection 'Revelatus'. It is a smart collection with very refined combination of wearable classical menswear and avant-garde silhouettes. I really like the head pieces in this collection. I am looking forward to his soon to be launched label CODE HOMME by Ali Abdulrahim.

Please take your time to read more about this talented designer.

Beata Guzinska at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2012

One of the most striking collections that I encounterd this year is this one by Beata Guzinska. She presented it at FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2012. With this collection she shows a strong massage about the world by bringing the world together...and this exactly what fits to FASHIONCLASH ideal. Creating a clash with disciplines, cultures, worlds, people and so on.

Collection 'I am off to Dalston' is inspired by Dalston Market in London. Resembling robes, bit archaic costume, though economical in form, significantly distinguished by colour and religious motifs. BEATA GUZINSKA's collection is mainly a collection for men created and based on fabrics from various places around the world ie. Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria and many others.

Guzinska is born in Konin (Poland). Now she lives and works in London where she is creating unique fashion items. Guzinska's career started when she presented her collection in the Polish contest 'Off Fashion' in Kielce in 2011.

Beata Guzinska is a  finalist of OFF FASHION-KIELCE-POLAND, NEW LOOK DESIGNER-WARSAW-POLAND and AFRICA TOP DESIGNER-LONDON-UK.
