FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2010!!

FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2010 is about to take place again this weekend at the Timmerfabriek in Maastricht!

More than eighty talented designers/artists, coming from thirteen different European countries, take part in the second edition of the international fashion event ‘FASHIONCLASH MAASTRICHT’ 4, 5 & 6 June 2010.
On this year’s program there are fashion shows of upcoming fashion talents, a fashion show of the fashion and textile department of the Academy of Arts Maastricht and the show of non-fashion designers who translated their vision on fashion in the CLASH- project. The works of designers/artists who have a link with fashion will be displayed in the exposition.
A part of the designs of the FASHIONCLASH participants will be for sale in the STORE at the location.
A WINDOW ROUTE through Maastricht, an exclusive publishing of the magazine ‘2010’ and a presentation by the ‘Peter Stigter aan de Muur’ foundation complete the program. At the location there is a cosy lounge, where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat and meet with your friends, colleagues and FASHIONCLASH visitors.

Besides the fashion show program the event has free entry for the public.

Encounter with The Sartorialist

Scott Schuman, famous for his world-renown blog about Style " The Sartorialist", visited Maasmechellen Village today.
There was a book signing session by Mr. Scott him self.

Scott Schuman was born in Indiana, USA and went to college at Indiana University majoring in Apparel Merchandising, with a minor in Costume
Construction. After 15 years dedicated to his career in Fashion, working for high-end women’s designer collections like Valentino, Scott Schuman opened his own showroom specializing in young designer collections. He then went on to roam the streets of New York with his camera and started shooting pictures for his blog.

“My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration. Rarely do they look at the whole outfit as a yes or no but they try and look for the abstract concepts of color, proportion, pattern mixing or mixed genres”. (The Sartorialist- blog)

Sidi el Karchi/Bas de Wit

Sidi EL Karchi/Bas de Wit
11.04 - 27.06. 2010 at Bonnefantenmuseum/Maastricht

Since Sidi El Karchi and Bas de Wit successfully completed their studies at the art academy a little less than ten years ago, the museum has been following their progress. That was fairly easy to do, as they both studied in Maastricht and still live and work in the vicinity – apart from short visits to New York and Antwerp. Now El Karchi and De Wit's careers have really taken off.

If you want to know more visit Bonnefantenmuseum website (check this link). But I advise you to visit the museum and see the work, it's worth a visit!!
