Lichting 2010

Lichting 2010 at AIFW (Amsterdam International Fashion week)
15 July 2010 Westergasfabriek

Bringing together the very best of The Netherlands' fashion academies, Lichting was founded in 2007 to bridge the gap between the academies and students on the one side and the talent-hungry fashion industry on the other.
Each academy nominates their two best graduates. Selection at the academies is undertaken by the senior lecturers. A total of fourteen designers will show their collections at Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW). As a result, Lichting is one of the most highly principled fashion events in the Netherlands, both in terms of quality and representation.

As official supporter of Lichting 2010, G-Star presents the G-Star Raw Talent Award; a €10.000 prize and experience trip to New York. The winner will be part of the G-Star Raw backstage team during the upcoming New York Fashion Week show on 14 September.

Salon/1

SALON/1 presented fashion, design and art at various locations in Amsterdam from 15th-18th July 2010.
I've not been able to visit it all the locations during my two days in Amsterdam but here is a selection of few highlights. My personal favorite was the presentation in Museum van Loon!

SALON/1 is an initiative of Gijs Stork, Manon Schaap and Cathal Mckee.

Fashion and Textile design
This year presentation of the fashion design graduates is really strong. Beautiful photography and collection books. One of my favorites is Yvonne Laufer. Ingo Binder made a really strong mens collection inspired by pelgrims and is selected for Lichting 2010 together with Karolina Nieslony. Nora Julliette designed a nice and wearable mens collection, very well styled with self made accessories. But overall I have to say well done! to the eight graduates.
