Individuals a/w 2012/13 at Amsterdam Fashion Week

Individuals presented new winter collection 'Duals' during Amsterdam Fashion Week last week. I have not attended this show but heard many people talk about it and yes it looks great! The design label responds to the society as never before: with passion, strength and a raw streetwear collection.
In this collection Individuals reacts with passion and force to today’s society with a raw street wear collection, full of references to the city and to a nomadic lifestyle. "DUALS" refers to the duel between oneself and the outside world, and to the duality between faith and insecurity. Progress and transience are two red threads running through the collection, seeking the answer to the question: "What time could this be?
Individuals is an initiative of Amsterdam Fashion Institute and Hogeschool van Amsterdam.

Jacob Kok strong debut at Amsterdam Fashion Week

After winning the Dutch Project Catwalk he now made a promising debut at Amsterdam Fashion Week. This is one of the shows I was looking forward to see the most. Ever since I saw Jacobs work at FASHIONCLASH event in Maastricht in 2010 I was a fan. Jacob Kok continues to surprise with his fresh and authentic collection inspired by mineworkers. For this collection he developed beautiful fabrics with prints at the Textielmuseum in Tilburg.

Wearable sculptures by Winde Rienstra at AFW

Winde Rienstra's show was one of the most beautiful at AFW. This is the second time that she is showing at the AFW. I was looking forward to see the show again because the one from last year really made an impression. The collection, based on a painting from Dutch painter J.C. van Schagen, is a serene combination between architectural shapes and soft light fabrics. As a finalst from the first edition of The Green Fashion Competition, Winde finds it important to work with eco-friendly materials. In this collection she uses wood, cardboard and silk. Have a look at the cardboard shoes!

Nieuw Jurk Crisis Fashion

Krisis, new unisex collection is inspired by the financial crisis. Meijer believes strongly in the wish of people to support culture at this moment when the Dutch government is letting us down by enormous cuts on culture funding. Nieuw Jurk (New Dress) came up with the idea to use crowdfunding to be able to fund the collection. By raising money through their website www.nieuwjurk.com they provide fans and supporters the opportunity to invest in their collection. Nieuw Jurk is the label of Esther Meijer who graduated from ArtEZ fashion institute.
Nieuw Jurk gave an energetic show with the Krisis collection at the Amsterdam Fashion Week last Thursday.
