SCHUELLER DE WAAL at Amsterdam Fashion Week

'Speculative Realism' collection by SCHUELLER DE WAAL

After several years of commercial experience fashion designers Philipp Schueller and Rens de Waal decided to join forces and explore new grounds. The urge to pair their commercial knowledge with their own creative vision led them to launch their own line SCHUELLER DE WAAL.
Following the success of their debut collection and presentation with Sauce Hollandaise at during Paris Fashion Week they have presented their new collection at 22nd edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam.
This second collection is the next step in defining the SCHUELLER DE WAAL signature and shows their distinct unconventional vision of fashion design. They translated their ambition vision not just in the collection but also in the scenography of the runway presentation making them one of the fresh new names to watch in the Dutch fashion scene.
The collection was presented on models and muses of the two designers, a group of women who they admire and inspired them during the design process. Among the women who carried their looks down the runway where singer Ntjam Rosie, writer Hanna Bervoets, actress Eva Bartels, Jans Possel (director of Mediamatic), singer Ming, dj’s Charlotte van den Brekel and Elise Braas (Spacegirls) and photographer Alexandra Hunts.

"Speculative Realism" challenges the imagination by combing unlike combinations.
SCHUELLER DE WAAL combines elements of sci-fi, pop culture and surrealism into an eclectic but balanced design aesthetic. Collection exists out of two parts preseneting two different versions of the same outfit. One version of the collection is colourful and made of luxurious materials. The second version of the collection are the same outfits carried out in black referencing 'black labels' by big brands focusing on commercial looks.
