The Hague Fashion Week 2021 took place from 14 to 17 October. During this first physical edition of the fashion week in The Hague, a stage was given to young and established designers from The Netherlands.
With an extensive program full of exhibitions, fashion shows, a design competition, workshops and a fashion route, The Hague had its proper fashion week. On Saturday, The Student Hotel was all about up-and-coming fashion talent. Young designers such as Zoë La Rivière, Shenny Cijntje, Ko Bo and Nicole Plender showed their designs during fashion shows. On Sunday evening, the fashion week came to an end with a programme at the impressive venue at the Grote Kerk.
On show were upcoming designers Studio HIEM, by HKU graduate Patrick Hiemstra. The audience was treated with a joyful show and gender bending collection in line with a current generation of designers who are exploring gender codes and queer culture. Designer Michelangelo Winklaar presentation was accompanied by the musician Lakshmi. The presented collection featured designs where tailoring, structure and color were visible. Nata Ryzh presented a collection with a mix of elegant garments and striking decorative prints.

Xiaomi x THFW New talent competition |
The aim of the Hague Fashion Week is mostly to support young and upcoming talent, and this was underlined the the Xiaomi x THFW New talent competition. Participating designers were challenged to get inspired by the new smartphone Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. Twelve finalists presented their creations and competed for the main prize of 2,500 euros. Roosalie Boonstra took home the main prize, Studio Hiem was given the runner-up award.
With this edition, The Hague Fashion Week shows great potential for further development.
